What a load of bull! – According to Stats SA, whites earn three times more than black people! – What do our readers say about this?
Times Live recently published an article that about Stats SA’s latest report saying that the country is still one of the most unequal in the world. Inequality Trends in South Africa, released on November 14, showed that white people earned three times more than black people on average, two decades after apartheid.
The report also found that the wage gap between SA’s groups increased between 2011 and 2015.
It said black households faced the highest level of unemployment and earned the lowest wages, while white people’s salaries were higher.
The earnings of white people were about three times more than those of black people. Whites also had the highest annual median expenditure.
The average monthly earnings among black people were R 6,009 in 2006 and R9,186 in 2015, while the figures for the white population were R77,308 in 2006 and R100,205 in 2015.

Sats SA show that whites in South Africa experience more racial discrimination than other groups
A new survey also shows that more than 70% of people in SA are ‘satisfied with life’ and that 90% are proud to be South African.
South Africa’s department of statistics (Stats SA) has released its Governance, Public Safety and Justice survey, which has a good story to tell on a range of topics, although it is one that some South Africans may find surprising, particularly those with a pessimistic outlook.
Their findings include that three-quarters of South Africans are either satisfied or very satisfied with life, that nine out of ten people are proud to be South African and that 86% of South Africans believe their health is good, very good or excellent.
According to the survey, 87% of the population think that freedom of religion is respected in South Africa, while 57% of the population think that people are treated equally by the police and in courts of law.
