Hospitals held up due to shortage of basic medical supplies – ANC regime want to implement NHI, but is currently unable to manage hospitals

Due to a lack of basic medical supplies, all non-emergency operations were discontinued at the Johannesburg Hospital.

The problems have been going on for weeks and doctors now have to “beg” for medical supplies at neighboring hospitals to deal with serious cases.

The Gauteng Health ministry has confirmed that non-emergency surgery for some patients had to be rescheduled at Charlotte Maxeke hospital in Johannesburg due to a shortage of medical supplies.

This was in response to a statement from the Democratic Alliance’s spokesperson on health, Jack Bloom, who said about 20 patients had been told that their operations could not go ahead. Kwara Kekana, spokesperson for the province’s health MEC, Dr Bandile Masuku, said eight patients were affected by the issue. The patients were all scheduled for arthroplasty.

“There has been a problem for some weeks with procurement at this hospital,” Bloom said in his statement.

Medical funds are becoming increasingly unreasonable – People will now have to pay more for towards their medical aid premium, this while state hospitals are plunged into chaos

Although it has become a common practice for medical schemes to adjust their rates upwards every year, there are concerns that they will increase significantly for 2020.

Medical costs in South Africa have skyrocketed while the state hospitals are in chaos and no one can dare to be admitted.

The problems of those who do not have a medical aid are far worse than those who now have to accept a sharp rise in rates.

Of the schemes, rates increase by up to 11%, which has become so high for many members of a scheme that it is unaffordable.

Younger people can afford to only take out a hospital plan as a package, but the older people get, the more they need a comprehensive package, which is where the financial bottleneck comes from.
Discovery Health Medical Scheme (DHMS) members will pay significantly more for their medical coverage in 2020.

God Help us! No health care facility in Gauteng controlled by ANC regime could pass safety audit – Now the very same regime wants to enforce a National Health Insurance Plan across SA

No healthcare facility in Gauteng was able to successfully pass a safety audit that complies with the Occupational Safety Act of SA (OHSA),according to a statement issued by DA Health spokesman Jack Bloom on Thursday. This means that all hospitals and clinics in Gauteng pose a safety risk to staff and patients.

It ranges from overcrowding to emergency departments, leaky roofs, non-functional air conditioning and non-standard kitchens.

This highlights how unprepared the state is for the planned National Health Insurance to be introduced.

Informed sources believe it is better not to go to the hospitals, as the risk of just being further affected or even die, has become too great.

“This information about the shock state of healthcare facilities is revealed by Gauteng Health MEC Bandile Masuku in a written response to questions in the Gauteng Legislature,” Bloom said.

New health plan poses huge risk to SA’s economy and would be disastrous if implemented – even far left FW de Klerk Foundation have their doubts

The ANC regime has South Africa’s people in a huge dilemma with its National Health Plan.

Foreign media reports that a government spokesman said the plan would be implemented gradually, but that would depend on the economic growth achieved.

Experts point out that the country will not show any significant growth in the next five years, with the massive unemployment still rising.

The plan is believed to be “rolled out” in phases as economic growth improves, but experts point out that nothing has been said about what will happen if the economy recedes further.

Opinionists believe this will mean that the tax assessment could increase dramatically, and ultimately the entire Plan fails.

Even the far left FW de Klerk Foundation believes implementing the Health Plan will be a disaster again for South Africa.

ANC regime’s NHI plan back in the news – according to spokesman’s plan will be wisely implemented – As if the ANC knows what wisely means

The ANC’s National Health Plan is back in the news after the party’s spokesman said the scheme would be implemented with “prudence”.

With the announcement, without offering new details, the ANC once again raised the smoke clouds, doctors who are busy packing them to leave the country.

The ultimate cost, when the plan is fully operational, could amount to as much as R400 billion a year, which the planners say will only result in a “small increase” in income tax for individuals.

Experts say the ANC has come up with an idea that will not work as long as hospitals and health clinics are in the current chaotic state, unemployment is still at 30%, and the country’s expertise in managing the comprehensive service, still missing.

The promise that the Plan will be implemented gradually is only a root for taxpayers, and when failures take its toll, reversal is not possible.

No high-care unit at Pelonomi Hospital is operational – patients suffer – poor condition of state hospital indication that the planned Health Insurance will be just another failed ANC project

The FF Plus demands that the Free State Department of Health urgently intervene and ensure that all high-care units in the Pelonomi Hospital in Bloemfontein are restored to an operational condition.

Currently, there is not one operating high-care unit in this hospital.

At a recent Health Portfolio Committee meeting in the Free State Legislature, the head of the Free State Department of Health, Dr. David Motau, reveals that only the high-care unit on the third floor of Pelonomi Hospital is operational.

However, the FF Plus has determined that this unit is used as an ordinary hospital ward.

The FF Plus has addressed a written question to the Free State MEC of Health, Montseng Tsiu.

The party condemns the poor quality of healthcare to patients who cannot afford private healthcare.

The dire state of state hospitals, such as Pelonomi, is another indication that the planned National Health Insurance will be just another failed ANC

Matjhabeng: From city of gold to city of sewage – residents’ properties were flooded with sewage for days because sewage pipes were leaking but were not being fixed

On 15 August 2019, the FF Plus filed a criminal complaint against the mayor, Mr Nkosenjani Speelman, and the municipal manager, Mr Elias Tsoaeli, of the Matjhabeng Local Municipality due to the municipality’s collapse of service delivery.

Residents who live in the municipal region are affected by the problem of sewage running down the streets and even flowing into their properties because infrastructure was not properly maintained.

In the residential area of Doorn in Welkom, residents’ properties were flooded with sewage for days because sewage pipes were leaking but were not being fixed. These leakages were repaired only after pressure from the FF Plus.

The executive officials of the municipality must be held accountable for the constant violation of residents’ constitutional right to a safe environment. It is unacceptable that municipalities have been allowed to deteriorate to such an extent that it now poses health risks to residents.</

National Health Plan is going to need at least R180bn to R250bn for 12-month spending – with SA’s faltering economy that’s a disproportionate amount

Implementing a National Health Plan does not mean, like Eskom, demanding a R50 billion from the government’s money it has collected from taxpayers.

The reality is, too, that it cannot come into effect by making a slight upward adjustment in the personal taxes levied.

The reality is that at least R180bn to R250bn will be required to be ready for a 12-month period.

Of course, South Africa with its poor economy cannot run after it because France and Japan have such medical plans, which is not an unemployment figure of 30%, and there is no ignorance about how such a system manages and not operated.

South Africa is in a financial mess – junk status, and with it an inability to reduce unemployment and thus also violence and corruption.

Maybe the initiators come to mind – because 2026 is around the corner and the economic situation is not going to be corrected in the short time until the new plan is implemented.

Huge Disparity in Cost of Cancer Treatment – A year’s supply of cancer medicine cost less than R32,000 in India, but costs R882,000 in South Africa!

Despite having a good medical aid, Pinetown resident Hennie Botha, 52, is facing mounting debt of thousands of Rands because of the cost of his cancer treatment. He is not alone: the exorbitant cost of treatment for cancer in South Africa is way beyond the reach of most citizens.

The 2017 Cancer Medicines Report highlighted a year’s supply of cancer medicine, lenalidomide, was less than R32,000 in India, but cost R882,000 in South Africa. Added to this is a highly restrictive patenting system in South Africa, putting the brakes on competition which could lower prices.

Botha was diagnosed with Stage 4 carcinoid cancer last year, after suffering what he thought was anaphylactic shock. “I was cleaning the pool when I started not feeling well and collapsed. My blood pressure and my heart rate dropped. I didn’t think I would survive.”

ANC government neglected to replenish stockpile of vital vaccine on time, now SA has to cope with nationwide shortage – children’s health conditions are now under threat

South Africa’s health sector currently has a nationwide shortage of a vital vaccine that is used for the prevention of diphtheria as well as a vaccine to prevent tetanus.

The shortage not only left parents frustrated, but caused anger and anxiety because their loved one’s overall condition was threatened.

The shortfall of vaccine is a serious threat to children’s health and can lead to deaths that could be prevented.

The people in remote areas often have to travel long distances to clinics where they get the preventive vaccine for their children, and now they are apparently become outraged because they are repeatedly told to come later.

However, it appears that the shortage is not with suppliers, but with the authorities negligence to replenish their stock in time.
